Mō te tūnga | About the role
You’ll lead the team responsible for ensuring our systems, infrastructure, and platforms are secure, reliable, fit for purpose and in alignment with our Digital Strategy outcomes. A key member of the Digital Technology leadership team, your responsible areas include:
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing Digital Systems team
• Ensuring applications, infrastructure, and platforms are effectively managed across their lifecycle
• Overseeing daily IT operations, including system availability, performance, and security
• Leading the Council’s cybersecurity strategy, governance, and incident response
• Planning and driving continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of emerging technologies
• Partnering with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver digital outcomes
• Contributing to strategic planning and providing advice to senior leadership

You’re a capable leader who brings both hands-on technical experience, enthusiasm and the ability to think and deliver strategically.
You’ll bring:
• Proven experience leading IT or digital systems teams in a complex environment
• Strong expertise in enterprise systems, infrastructure, and cloud technologies (Microsoft 365, Azure, etc.)
• Experience leading cybersecurity programmes and risk management
• The ability to translate strategy into delivery and operational outcomes
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
Ideally, you’ll also have:
• A relevant degree in IT, digital, or business (or equivalent experience)
• Technical certifications including cybersecurity-related quals (e.g. CISSP, Security+)
• Experience with enterprise environments (Windows Server, Azure, backups, DR, networking)

The starting remuneration range for this role is $119,554 - $139,480 per annum (including KiwiSaver).
