Job Description

Mō te tūnga | About the role

You will be an integral part of the Data & GIS, and the Land Management teams. You will provide exceptional support to our Land Management Officers applying your knowledge of ESRI GIS, along with using your excellent people skills, to support mobile data collection training and field activities, and deliver geospatial analysis and reporting to support land management activities in the Taranaki region.

As the successful candidate, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications, combined with demonstrable experience in the use, maintenance and installation of GIS software, specifically with knowledge of the ESRI suite of products including AppStudio, Field Maps, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.  Knowledge of Python and SQL would also be advantageous.
You will be able to manage, maintain and input quality data into GIS applications and undertake appropriate analysis.  Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively impart your knowledge to others will ensure your success in this critical role. You will also need to be versatile, resourceful and have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

We like to set people up for success so you’ll be a leading applicant if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Data Management, Computer Science, GIS, or a relevant field, or study towards such a qualification.
  • At least two years of experience in a data stewardship, data management, or GIS-related role. 
  • Familiarity with geospatial tools, especially the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online). 
  • Working knowledge of Python for data processing and basic scripting tasks is advantageous. 
  • Knowledge of FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) or equivalent data transformation tools would be beneficial
  • A strong customer relationship focus, and well-rounded interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be flexible and agile in your practice to provide outcome
  • Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs
  • Proven experience building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and securing their cooperation.
  • An understanding of land management activities is an advantage

The starting remuneration range for this role is $79,091 - $93,048 per annum (including KiwiSaver).
